East Coast Photographers I am coming your way! I love shooting on the East Coast (check our Stephanie’s East Coast sunset session I did below) …just a little different than shooting on the Gulf of Mexico. For instance, we get a sunrise & a sunset close to the water here (just on opposite sides of the beach) but you East Coasters have a little bit less of a sunset (over the actual water) and more of a sunrise 🙂 So I am coming to you and tailoring a fantastically long and fun one day workshop (with a welcome dinner and such so let’s say 1 and a quarter!) on the shores of gorgeous Oak Island, North Carolina. I have found a beautiful and pretty secluded beach retreat home for the workshop that we can relax an talk shop in. Also, it has private beach access to a beach that appears to be very secluded (i.e. no one to bother us while we are learning on the sand!). Won’t you join me?
Imagine…toes in the sand, cold drink in your hand, leafing through your goodie bag and waiting for the fun to begin at the Friday Night Welcome Dinner. Food & drink are taken care of while you relax, learn, and meet a group of like-minded photographers who can share this experience and take knowledge home to ignite your portrait business, just in the time for the new year! I am holding an all inclusive workshop to entail everything from finding the light at different times of day to golden hour portrait sessions & rounding it out with marketing, SEO, legal info, and editing. I want you to learn a ton in an amount of time that is feasible for you to be away from your business & family so I created an action packed 1+ day workshop jammed with real sessions so you can get your camera clicking, your mind lightbulbing, and your portfolio expanding. What was your favorite part of the workshop? EVERYTHING! The welcome dinner was AMAZING. The cake to DIE for! Marketing, lighting, shooting etc., clarified clearly to me the goals I want to accomplish in my photography career. Learning your techniques and how you interact with your clients is all knowledge that will help me in the future. Your editing process and learning what we did on SEO, (even though it was over my head, at least I know who to hire in order to get the most out of it). I really could go on and on. Being able to get a behind the scenes with Kansas was amazing! Loved watching her in action with her clients and then being able to see her workflow and post processing. Kansas is laid back and relaxed yet amazingly organized as a business woman. I learned some amazing things that I can apply to my business to enhance my current workflow and cut a lot of time out of my editing! I appreciated her candor, her honestly and knowing that she is ultra “real” ~ left me encouraged and energized! If you are coming with your spouse or your family you can start looking for lodging options here. There are many nicer hotels in the area as well as a plethora of resorts, condos, and home rentals plus it is before high season so the rates should be better 😉

What you need to bring:
Basic knowledge of Lightoom, Photoshop, and your own camera-we will be shooting in manual (which I will go over but please practice getting to know Manual if you don’t shoot that way currently) Bring your lenses! Once you are booked I will let you know what lenses I will be using. Bring what you have and I will also be providing attendees with a coupon code to assist in renting lenses from BorrowLenses.com (one of our fabulous sponsors) for those of you who would like to try something new while you are here. You may bring your laptop to take notes or edit along with me during the class/studio portion of the workshop.
What I hope to have you walk away with:
New friends, a renewed sense of creativity, knowledge on finding the right light at different times of the day, of shooting backlit images, of where to place your subjects, of shooting in open sun, also editing to make your images pop, working an efficient workflow, how styling can make an amazing image, and many fabulous images for your portfolio for the upcoming summer portrait season. Not to mention, how to market to clients, how to book them, get them to your website, and deal with your business legally. Honestly, sooo much more 😉
We usually get so wrapped up we forget to take a picture until its almost dark!!!!
Cost: $1950 per person (which includes accommodations & meals as stated above)
Terms: The nonrefundable deposit of $950 is due to book and these are on a first come, first serve basis-you can serve your spot by paying your deposit in the STORE. Balance is due no later than March 25th. Within a week I will send you full booking details and get you in the private FB group and all of that!

**Due to the fact that there are not any homes that have enough bedrooms for everyone to have their own there is a possibility that you will have to share a bedroom with someone. If you come or meet another photographer here you will sharing a room if need be. This all depends solely on how many photographers register to say at the beach house. Bedroom picking will be done upon arrival and you will pick your accommodations in the order in which you registered. In other words, the first to register are the first to pick their rooms upon arrival on Friday 😉
